Director Sheryl Newman said, “Cancer is a terrible disease which shows no age or gender preference and we have been impressed by local charity CLAN and their real commitment to helping those affected by cancer, their families and the wide range of support facilities they provide”.
Our director Sheryl Newman was delighted to be invited as a guest to the annual fundraising lunch at Ardoe House this year and when she found out that CLAN needed runners for the Baker Hughes 10K quickly got her husband a keen runner involved to help. Completing the race is a respectable 47 minutes and 23 minutes, with the support of family and friends we managed to raise a fantastic £1,100 for a brilliant cause.
Fundraising Co-ordinator Darren Hill says:
CLAN helps and supports anyone affected by cancer whether as a patient, carer, family member or friend. We help from pre-diagnosis, diagnosis, through treatment, rehabilitation, re-occurrence, palliative and bereavement stages, supporting people of all ages. We provide services like drop-in support, emotional support, counselling, complimentary therapies, a Children and Families Service, specialist accommodation, transport and support groups. It costs nearly £2.5 million a year to run our crucial services and that’s why we are so grateful for any support which will help us to continue helping those in our community affected by cancer.. Thank you to Appetite for choosing to support us as their charity through 2015”, participating in events like these on our behalf really does help us in all that we do. “
