Cracking fundraising idea sees Appetite for Business benefit children’s charity

news
15th Apr 2015

Appetite for Business came up with an egg-cellent way to support disadvantaged children this Easter by running a creative competition where entrants had to spot the Easter egg on a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.

The competition was won by Sarah Downs of Bryant Recruitment who donated the grand prize – a donation of Easter eggs – to children’s charity the ARCHIE Foundation.

Sheryl Newman, director at Appetite for Business, said: “While the competition proved to be a lot of fun for everyone that took part, it also played an important role in bringing some joy to young people who had to spend the Easter break in hospital. Hopefully the chocolate brought a smile to their faces.

“Our team is proud that we were able to give back in a fun, meaningful way. Along with a group of fellow networking members, we have more fundraising ideas in the pipeline to help support the ARCHIE Foundation.”

David Cunningham, chief executive of the ARCHIE Foundation, was delighted when he heard how the money for the eggs had been raised.

He said: “That was a really clever idea, using the skills of the business to create a fun ‘Spot the Easter egg’ game on an Excel spreadsheet. We are very grateful to Appetite for Business for creating it and to its clients for taking part.

“It was very kind of winners, Bryant Recruitment, to choose the ARCHIE Foundation to be the recipient of the Easter eggs too, so thank you very much to them. They have been distributed to children in the hospital’s outpatients department to some very big smiles!

“The ARCHIE Foundation is here to make the difference for sick children in Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and in the community and it helps enormously to have the support of companies like Appetite for Business and Bryant Recruitment. We couldn’t do this without your help, so thank you all very much indeed.”

The ARCHIE Foundation aims to improve the lives of sick children in the North of Scotland and the Islands who need medical care in the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, in children’s wards in Inverness and Elgin or in their own community. For more information visit www.archiefoundation.org.uk

The Easter-themed fundraiser is the latest in a string of charitable events Appetite has created. In 2014, as part of the Granite City Ball team Sheryl and Appetite raised almost £40,000 in support of Make-A-Wish UK. As a result of this support, Make-A- Wish was able to grant even more magical wishes to local children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions.
