BP’s business strategy is to have one centralised standardised system disaster recovery enabled site for all controlled and uncontrolled documents. The document management system is being implemented globally and is currently being rolled out to Norway.
Utilising a customised SharePoint environment, the system which replaces Documentum
brings key benefits including:
Better disaster recovery capability, audit and record retention
Enhanced classification and organisation of documents to facilitate faster “Google” style searching
Integration with Microsoft tools
Appetite have been able to provide dedicated knowledge and support to help bridge the gap between the business & IT assisting with both the mapping of data, data upload and familiarisation training.
The team based in Stavanger, have been working with a number of nominated business champions.
Appetite team, working in the role of Subject Matter Expert are providing support with the move to the new system; helping champions map and structure the data from Documentum into SharePoint, development of new ways of working and support with the provision of training material and rolling this out in training workshops to all champions through a mix of online and face to face interventions.
Data validation, document control and contributor training, e-learning are planned in the coming months.
Furthermore access to this new structured more accessible data ensures that the foundations are in place for efficient maintenance preparation, planning and execution.
