Upgrading to Windows 10 and Office 2016?

It's new and improved...

...but you don't know what you don't know

Are you upgrading to the latest version of Windows 10 and Office without considering an investment in staff training?

In any industry, people are the most valuable asset that a company can have.  The most successful companies tend to be those that have fully invested in providing training for their staff. If you don’t invest in training, you might get by for a while. Over time, you will figure out how to do the things you need to do. Your team are smart – they will work it out too, right?

Can you afford to lose productivity when one of the key benefits of an upgrade is to be more productive?

Training staff on the latest version of Windows and Office allows you to reap the full value of the upgrade. System upgrades could improve efficiencies, enhance cybersecurity and provide greater functionality.

For example, here’s a quick tip about the new Windows START MENU:

The windows START button looks different because it is different. It now gives you access to a much more up to date and feature packed START MENU.

Of course, you can use the mouse to click on it but I am always convinced that pressing the WINDOWS key on the keyboard is much quicker and it still amazes me that there are people out there that still don’t know the wonders of the WINDOWS key.

Think of the new START MENU as divided into 3 parts – MENU, APPS and TILES.

Windows 10 Start Menu
Menu, Apps, Tiles

The MENU contains quick access to your USER ACCOUNT details, WINDOWS SETTINGS and POWER OPTIONS. This MENU can be expanded by clicking on the ‘hamburger’ button. Yes, I did just call those three little horizontal lines the ‘hamburger’ button. Go on, tell me what you call it then?

The APPS contain a list of all installed APPlications (we’re too busy or too lazy to say full words these days, right?) on your PC arranged alphabetically. Launch an app by clicking on it. Right click to see further options for the app such as PIN TO START, PIN TO TASKBAR and UNINSTALL (wait, what do you mean you spent 5 minutes looking for the ‘Control Panel’ to get to Add or Remove Programs’? You are so Windows 7!).

The TILES allows a more graphical interface for accessing your most used apps or folders. These can be grouped, named and resized as required.

Are you wondering where the SEARCH button has gone?

Don’t panic – you can still search for that file you know is there but you just can’t remember where you ‘filed it’. Or maybe you never used the SEARCH feature before so please feel free to carry on clicking in multiple folders and having a look saying, ‘it’s here somewhere honest!’.

To search within Windows 10 simply start typing once you are inside the START MENU.

Go on, try it – it feels slightly satisfying the first time you do it.

Have you been using Windows 10? Did you know about these features? If you did, great! If you didn’t then this is only the START of how we can help you get the most out of Windows 10 and Office 2016.
